Care and maintenance

Treat it right. Ride it forever.

Your GLYDE isn’t just a paddleboard—it’s a handcrafted heirloom. With proper care, it will glide across water for decades to come. Here’s how to keep it in top form.

🧼 After Every Use

✅ 1. Rinse with Fresh Water
Especially after paddling in saltwater or algae-heavy lakes. A quick rinse helps prevent residue buildup and protects your finish.

✅ 2. Dry Before Storage
Wipe your board down with a clean towel. Let it dry in the shade before putting it away to avoid mildew and trapped moisture.

✅ 3. Loosen Straps & Remove Gear
Take off bungees, dry bags, or paddle clips after use. Pressure points can leave marks if stored tightly.

🏠 Storage Tips

✅ 4. Store Indoors When Possible
Garages, boathouses, or shaded spaces are best. Avoid long-term exposure to direct sunlight or moisture.

✅ 5. Use Soft Supports
Store the board on padded racks, wall hooks, or a soft surface—never directly on cement or gravel.

✅ 6. Avoid Extreme Temperatures
Freezing cold or intense heat (like inside a vehicle or shed) can affect wood expansion and resin integrity.

🧽 Surface Protection

✅ 7. Reapply Varnish as Needed
Your GLYDE is sealed with UV-protective marine varnish. Over time, it may need a light sanding and recoat—especially if the finish dulls.

✅ 8. Avoid Dragging
Lift and carry your GLYDE. Dragging across docks, gravel, or sand can scratch the hull or damage seams.

✅ 9. Use Board Bags for Travel
Every GLYDE includes a branded board bag. Use it when transporting to prevent scratches, scuffs, or impact damage.

🔩 Hardware & Drainage

✅ 10. Check the GoreTex Vents
Your board includes two GoreTex air vents to equalize internal pressure. These stay closed—no need to open them.

✅ 11. Use the Rear Drain Plug When Needed
If your board has been stored wet or vented improperly, use the rear plug to drain any trapped moisture.

🛠️ Annual Touch-Up Suggestions

  • Light clean + varnish check in early spring
  • Rinse + dry thoroughly before winter storage
  • Inspect seams and fasteners once a season
  • Spot sand and touch-up finish if UV or water exposure has dulled the shine

🔒 Lifetime of GLYDE

Cedar is strong, light, and resilient. With care, your GLYDE will age gracefully—developing character without compromising performance.

A little attention now ensures your board becomes a legacy later.
